Camping Catastrophe
This past weekend we went camping for Tyler's birthday. He got to invite one friend to go along. We went up to Boyd Lake on Sunday after church. We found a good place to set up (so we thought), got a fire going and had hot dogs, baked beans, chips and s'mores (yum!). Anyway, I kept smelling this weird smell- like pee. Shawn thought it was our awning that we had pulled out, that maybe it had some moisture trapped in it. The night was good, the kids and dog had a blast and everybody slept pretty good. The next morning (Monday) I had to get up and come home because I had to work (ugh). While I was home I got a call from Shawn that he had discovered the source of the smell from the night before. Apparently the dipdork that was parked in our spot previously had been too lazy to go to the dump station and decided to empty his "waste" tank right there!!! GROSS, NASTY, *#@**!!! So of course when I got back he had everything packed to go and we moved to a different spot!! People are so disgusting!!! After we quickly moved and sanitized as much as possible we went to see Night and the Museum 2. It was okay, but only just. The humor just kept falling flat which was sad because there was really a great cast in it. Anyway, after that our good friends the Stein's joined us for dutch oven dinner and root beer floats for FHE. It was so much fun! The kids again had a blast just running around and playing like crazy. It's so nice to not have the distraction of TV, toys, and bedrooms. :) The dog was in heaven! That night a storm blew in but we were nestled all cozy in our trailer- no worries for us. Thank goodness for that because it really came down all night. Then about 2 a.m. there was a loud THUMP! Shawn jumped out of bed thinking someone had run into the trailer. I had taken a Benadryl before bed and was much slower to respond. He runs out of the "bedroom" and sees a lump on the floor in the back where the bunks are. He picks it up, not knowing who is was at first, and then the lump starts to cry. He soon realized it was Tyler's friend Christopher who had FALLEN OUT OF BED! Holy crap! We asked if he hurt anywhere and he said his head hurt. We checked him out good and Shawn checked his eyes and did all of the concussion tests and he seemed fine. We finally put him back to bed and told him to come get us if he didn't feel well. At 5 a.m. he comes into our room and says he has a bad headache so we gave him some children's Tylenol and I rubbed his shoulders for a few minutes. All of a sudden he says he feels like he's going to throw up. I ushered him into the bathroom where he commences to puke. WHATTHEHECK! Now we decided it's time to call mom and dad. (Shawn checked him again for concussion and there were still no symptoms except now he is vomiting). His dad met Shawn halfway and later they decided to take him to the ER where of course they found out HE HAD A CONCUSSION! Good Grief!! The poor kid must have landed on his head! Anyway, it was pretty traumatic for us. You know its one thing when your own kid gets hurt with you, its even worse when someone else's kid gets hurt with you. Anyway, his parents are good friends of ours and thankfully they know crazy things happen to kids no matter who they are with. So gratefully even though the trip started out in the SEWAGE there will not be any SUE-AGE! (haha)

I think we have a bed gate if that would help.
